Hmmm. Of course the pictures from Fallujah were on the front page of the NY Times. They involved the mutilated corpses of Halliburton subcontractors. You don't think that they'd let that slip, did you?

Here's Kos, allegedly a former enlisted man, celebrating the death of some former enlisted men who were working as security staff for the nascent Iraqi government and its contractors:

I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.

Nicely done, Kos. Way to go, Pal. You've showed us all what a class act you are. And way to show us, that the corpses of 400,000 in mass graves, the rape rooms, the invasions, the refusals to abide by truce treaties signed with the UN, the giant people shredders, the funding of Palestinian massacres, the serving as a rest home for terrorists emeritus - doesn't matter to you. What matters is beating Bush, and if that takes a stack of burnt, mutilated American bodies, then so much the better. You feel nothing about that and in fact crow about the fact that it's "bringing the war home." All I can say, is it's too bad the Weathermen aren't still extant. At least then, you'd have a peer group.

I have a feeling that a substantial chunk of the left feels this way. I've lost a few supposedly moderate liberal friends over the last year, when they expressed sentiments along the lines of "I hope the bodies pile up high enough to knock Bush out of office." It's funny, they think I'm a "tame" conservative, and they speak their minds around me, not realizing that I used to be one of those cannon fodder troops they speak so fondly of, as if they were Iowa Caucus attendees. It's getting harder and harder to have a "live and let live" attitude when it comes to politics in this country.

I'm not surprised. I have always thought Kos to be a shrill leftist turd. These people hate America, especially an America that would elect George Bush. Posted by: Captain Holly at April 2, 2004 04:41 PM
I don't think that "feel nothing" = "celebrating". Posted by: meg at April 2, 2004 06:10 PM
Kos wasn't quite celebrating. You got me there. The DUmbasses certainly were celebrating, and Kos seemed pretty happy to be able to launch an attack on Bush from atop the dead bodies. And his disclaimer did give the appearance of praetoritio". His ex post facto rationalization was pretty lame, too; along with the tactic of removing the original language of the post.
