Time to "do the Spanish two-step"?

The self-annointed keepers of truth and justice, the new media, are starting to pound the drums of "surrender". According to the "experts", the images of Iraqis multilating the corpses of four American security contractors (so lovingly provided by the media) in Fallujah will have the same effect that the images of Mogadishu did in 1993. Maybe if the president was Klinton (or Spanish), they would be right, but fortunately for us, our president is Bush and four mutilated corpses aren't going to make him turn tail and run.

We have all read what the Cap'n had to say about this, and here's what the Great El-ahrairah has to say: So, what else would you expect to happen? This isn't the first time that an enemy has descrated the corpses of American fighting men and it won't be the first. Wasn't it Patton that said "War is Hell"? Killing of prisoners? Descration of corpses? Rape, pillage and plunder? Wanton destruction? Think of the most unimaginable things that could happen in war and then multiply it by 100 and you'll have some idea of what can happen. War just makes man's inhumanity to man that much more obvious.

Whether we "catch" and "punish" the perpetrators of these actions isn't what's important. What is important is that this doesn't make us loose vision of why we are there in the first place. Acting like the Spanish and running back home with our tail between our legs is like spitting on the graves of all those American men and women who fought in the war and died. Unfortunately, John "War Hero" Kerry didn't have any problem with that when he got home from the Vietnam War, so just stand by if he is ever elected president.

Back in the 90's, when Klinton the Molester was in office, things like this would have had us beating feet home in a heartbeat. The terrorists still seem to think that the US is still being run by the Klintons, ergo, they are doing things which were found to influence the Klinton White House. They don't seem to realize that Klinton ain't in office any more and there's a new sheriff in town. The world is no longer a place where relying on the goodwill of other countries will keep you safe. Like the latin phrase says "Si vis pacem, para bellum", if you wish peace, prepare for war. If you want people to feel safe at home, you had better have a stong military and be ready, willing and able to use it. I feel much safer now days, not because the threat level has gone down, but because I know that if I am killed due to terrorist actions, our president will treat this as an act of war and react accordingly instead of playing "touche pipi" with interns in the White House.

History has shown time and time again that dictators, emperors, kings and other evil despots do not attack countries that are strong, they attack the weak. Turning tail and running away just shows them who really is weak and makes their job that much easier. Spain might think that they have avoided the terrorist "Grim Reaper" but just like Neville Chamberlain and his promise from Hitler to "play nice", this will come back to haunt them in the future.
