Chalk up another one for BYU

Brigham Young University, besides being known for the LDS Church and quarterbacks, is also known for it's Institute for the Study and Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts. As such, the Vatican has agreed to let BYU scan the pages of a number of ancient Syrian christian manuscripts and publish them on a DVD. This is not the first time that BYU has been in the forefront of using computer technology to assist in the study of ancient texts. A few years back, BYU created a digital data base of the Dead Sea Scrolls so that researchers could better study them. It says something about the abilities of the LDS Church when the Vatican passes over other pretigious institutions and comes to BYU for help.
