Why Islam is disrespected

Boston.com / News / Boston Globe / Opinion / Op-ed / Why Islam is disrespected

Yes, Islam is disrespected. That will only change when throngs of
passionate Muslims show up for rallies against terrorism, and when
rabble-rousers trying to gin up a riot over a defiled Koran can't get
the time of day.

We hear a lot about how it is our fault that we are hated in the Arab and Muslim world, and some of it is justified but plenty is not.

It is certainly time for those so offended by our heresy to step into the light and let us have a look at you and your religion of peace.

I think this is a vital point and I trackbacked with my riposte to an editorial by the Capital Times blaming the military and the govt. for our image. This paper is hosted my madison.com and also hosts my blog.

Cordially,

Uncle J

I know plenty of tolerant Muslims who are very happy and proud to be Americans. The crux of the problem, is you are asking them (and their families, friends and coreligionists overseas) to fight for moderation. At its very nub, you are asking people who reject killing and hatred, to stand up and argue with people whose response to such arguments, is a flood of hatred and killing. This is a difficult battle, and the moderates, and would be moderate if they had a clue about world events Muslims (i.e. much of the so called "Arab Street") need our support in this, and out best efforts to debunk the lies about the West, to the extent we can do it. Karen Hughes' office might be a good start, and some Muslim groups in the U.S. are working on it, such as the Muslim Public Affairs Counsel (MPAC). I wish it were simple, and I wish we could fight this struggle by proxy, but it isn't and we can't; Muslims have to fight it by themselves. We can cheer them on, and boo the intolerant bloodthirsty bastards among them too, though, and in such movements one should never underestimate the importance of moral support.

Nice blog. Keep it up ...

Hi there

Apologies for posting an off topic question here.

I am invitation your views on ABORTION in order to present a case to help those in the developing world.

I personally see abortion as a NECESSARY EVIL and that unwanted pregnancy is not only a personal problem and it is also a very real problem for the society at large.

Do you think it is right to burden say a 15 years old school-going girl with a new life when she is yet to have any economic mean to sustain herself and obviously, most girls of her age are not mentally ready for a family life. Furthermore, is it fair to rob her of her career, aspiration, dream etc., in the name of preserving a life that is yet to be fully developed?

If you have an opinion, please email it to me at divinetalk@gmail.com or if you wish, you may post your comment here: Your Onion Counts!

Also, what do you think of the recent “Pharmacists Refused Contraceptive Prescriptions”.

Do you think Pharmacists have the rights to Play God?
