Today's Obligatory Terri Schiavo Post

It's required of us, you know. Miss one day and the powers that be send over little guys in jackboots to trash the house. Ngnat calls them the Media Elves.

Given that the court decisions seem to be stacking up against those attempting to keep Terri Schiavo alive; How long before someone attempts to kill Michael Schiavo, on the theory that once he's dead, Terri's parents would become her legal guardians, and could then ask that her feeding tube be re-attached?

First time visitor to House Hraka? Wondering if everything we produce could possibly be as brilliant/stupid/evil/pedantic/insipid/inspired as the post you just read? Check out the Hraka Essentials, the (mostly) reader-selected guide to Hraka's best posts, and decide for yourself.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for even saying something so stupid. There are plenty of irrational people who will read your post and take matters into their own hands. How would you feel if someone actually followed your advice?

Posted by: GC at March 24, 2005 01:59 PM

It's not advice, dearie. More in the nature of a rhetorical question or prediction.

But, were someone to actually commit such an retarded act, I suspect my reaction would be glee at having predicted it.

As you can see, I'm beyond shame. Thanks for playing, though.

Well, the "save Terri" brigade already attempted accidental homicide by trying to bring her bottled water. Deliberate homicide isn't that far to go from there...

First of all, I am not your "Dearie".

Second of all, you are a cruel and inhumane person to be gleeful at being able to "predict" what some irrational person would do.

Third of all, you've shown everyone here exactly how moronic and uneducated you are!

Posted by: GC at March 25, 2005 11:20 AM

It's my site. I can "dearie" you all I like. Not only is it my site, it's a common term in the dialect of the region from which I sprang. Surely you would not deny me the comforts of my tribal language?

If you feel that the use of the term creates the impression that I'm speaking down to you, then you've a higher degree of perspicacity than your comments thus far would indicate. Typically, those able to deploy substantive arguments in a disagreement don't resort to emotional language such as yours at the drop of a hat, but perhaps you've some unplumbed resources not yet displayed.

In short, act like an adult, or we'll treat your opinions like those of a child.

"Cruel and inhumane" I would agree with, but only as a subjective judgement on your part, as those two qualities are possessed in greater or lesser degree by every human on the planet. My apologies if your tender sensibilities have been offended, but your reaction thus far incline me to believe that you're one of those people who remain perpetually so. If I don't have any truck with that sort at the PTA, then I'll be damned if I will here.

I would sumbit that "moronic and uneducated" is at best not proven due to a lack of evidence. Surely a discerning person would not base such a damning condemnation on a such a small sample of evidence, without even the smallest of quotes to back it up. At worst, you're trolling, which I understand is part and parcel of the Internet experience, but unlike some, I prefer not to condemn before collecting a preponderance of evidence.

Thanks for playing, dearie.

I've thought the same thing for a long time.

Is there a jury that would not find her father not-guilty?

If it was my child I would have.....

A Time for Enlightenment

Enlightenment unto them, whose love of vanity has condemned an innocent lamb to death...either by deed, denial, dismissal, or distaste. Many said with revulsion, “Look at her!” Don’t they know that we are all beautiful in the eyes of the Creator? Did they not see the beauty of life heave as breath in the innocent woman’s body? Did they not know that a heart beat there? Did they not feel the pain of her mother Mary as she cried “Mercy,” but she was barred from soothing the lips of her thirsty child with but a tear of water for comfort?

Search your hearts to answer how a being that was described as incapable of feeling pain is given morphine to deaden the pain as her body dies? What is this passionate, compassionless, compassion I’ve seen? A soul has to wonder, but a soul already knows.

At this Passover season and beyond, when the one called the “Holy Father,” and the Son of the king, and the Spirit of Mary’s first born child prepare to receive their blessings...let ALL introspect to discern which path they truly travel. Let your enlightenment be quick, for time is fluid. It may not support the length of your journey.

May the spirit of peace guide you.

Live life with no regrets,
