Did God Fall Asleep?

My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Immediately, and I do mean IMMEDIATELY after the clock went to zero my phone rang and it was Bigwig. Admittedly, I didn't have it in me to hear him gloat, so I put the phone down and slowly walked away....without hitting the "Answer" button.

POSTSCRIPT: Yes, my finger was poised on my own phone to call Bigwig. That is, up until they took the points off the board and we lost.

First time visitor to House Hraka? Wondering if everything we produce could possibly be as brilliant/stupid/evil/pedantic/insipid/inspired as the post you just read? Check out the Hraka Essentials, the (mostly) reader-selected guide to Hraka's best posts, and decide for yourself.

It was a great game. I was in the stands. Of course, we were way up in the atmosphere and my view of the play in question was blocked by aircraft that were passing below. The last minute of the game was pretty confused. It sucks that winning or losing came down to a call of the officials. You never like to win or lose that way.

With that said...State sucks! GO HEELS!

Posted by: Kehaar at October 12, 2004 12:39 PM

UNC SUCKS! Bastard - still I am never to upset when Chuckles losses one....

Posted by: Clif at October 12, 2004 04:48 PM

I didn't see the game, and I didn't see the play. But thinking about it, it doesn't really matter what happened. Beating State and out-and-out-stealing a game from State have almost identical appeal to me.

I hate each of you with every fiber in my body.....not really, just trying to start a feud at the blog, good for traffic.

Posted by: Woundwort at October 12, 2004 06:43 PM

State does, in fact suck, and Dook blows.

Go Heels! And go to hell State!

[Scene: a bathroom. Me - in my Wilfred Brimley voice]: Mmmmm... there's nothing like startin' the mornin' off with a steaming hot pot of ACC hatred. Now, with Silflay Hraka, I get mine online, from the convenience of my own bathroom. I just use a laptop and wireless network, and get a fresh helpin' of hate to start my day. Take a constitutional... and take a dump on State. It's that easy.

Ok, I can see where the blogosphere sportsmanship award will not be going this year.

Posted by: Woundwort at October 13, 2004 08:16 AM

Guys, my team, The Wolverines of the big-10 can beat the 'Heels and the 'Pack put together!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: ronin at October 13, 2004 09:35 AM

Ronin, an easy argument to make since they won't play each other.....possibly ever. Maybe they can meet in a bowl game, although you are right, Michigan will probably go to a better bowl game than NCSU, and I doubt UNC will go to one this year.

Posted by: Woundwort at October 13, 2004 10:25 AM

State, going to a bowl game? It is to laugh. Well....maybe a minor bowl. You'll probably go 7-4 with that weak-ass schedule ya'll got. Depends on the Maryland game. Lose that, and State's season is over. They'll go 5-6.

Year after year, State's preciously delicate egos collapse and the team goes into a tailspin after they get beat by some team they figured they would whip the pants off of. Most years Virginia has that honor. This year I figure Carolina does. If they don't recover at Maryland, that's all she wrote for this year.

Posted by: Bigwig at October 13, 2004 10:50 AM

Virginia? Yes, they normally beat us, but we don't ever expect to beat them. The UNC loss hurt, but it doesn't necessarily mean the season is over. It does, however, mean for sure that a big bowl is out of the question. To make it to the big time we have to win all of the games we are supposed to win and a couple of the ones we aren't supposed to win. That, obviously, isn't going to happen this year. A win at Maryland will definitely hurt worse because of the UNC loss, mostly because Miami and FSU are still looming in our schedule, UVA as well. We could win all of those games because of our defense, but last Saturday showed that we most likely won't. Still, I would rather have our team than UNC's, even after the loss.

Posted by: Woundwort at October 13, 2004 11:10 AM

One good thing that might happen from last weekend's game is that perhaps now UNC will sign Bunting to a long term contract, similar to the way NCSU kept O'Cain around for far too long.
