Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Mass Murderer

What do Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill have in common with Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering, Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebbels?

No, not World War II. What are you, simple? No, according to the Russian director of Berlin's Galerie Art'el wax museum, it's something quite different.

Hitler shares a room at the "Galerie Art'el" museum with his World War Two adversaries Joseph Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, overlooking the former Cold War border crossing Checkpoint Charlie in the once-divided German capital.

Museum director Inna Vollstaedt said Hitler would soon be reunited with his former Nazi henchmen Hermann Goering, Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebbels in the waxwork displays.

"Until now there has never been a wax figure of Hitler displayed in Germany," said Vollstaedt.

"We have these men to thank for the Berlin Wall. We want them all," she said, referring to the Cold War barrier.

Had the British and Americans not resisted the Nazis, then the Soviets, then there would have been no Berlin Wall. Bad Americans, Bad British, to make the Germans suffer so!

Not to mention, where's Kennedy? One would think if one must equate an American president with the most successful mass murderers in history one would choose the President who happened to be alive at the time. It's not like JFK doesn't have baggage of his own. For that matter, where are Walter Ulbricht, the East German leader when the wall was constructed, in 1961, and Khrushchev?

Aside from Churchill, none of the men Vollstaedt "thanks" for the Berlin Wall were alive when it was built. Associating any of them with the Wall is historically ludicrous.

Of course, the point of the display is not to associate Churchill, Roosevelt, Stalin, Hitler and the other Nazis with the Berlin Wall. It's to associate them with each other, to blame them all equally for the horrors of the past. 6 million dead at the hands of the Germans, 30 million dead at the hands of Stalin? Very bad, yes, but everyone knows the British and Americans killed people too.

Why not just forget it, let it all come out in the wash? After all, it's not like those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

If only Patton had been allowed to move faster, the Reds coulda been stopped at the Kraut border.

Thus, no Berlin Wall. Stupid Monty.

Sounds like they are more doomed to garble it!

Bad, hm? Let's add, "Bad, bad Marshall Plan!"
